The Indian Home Secretary Shri Ajay Bhalla issued another order to Chief Secretaries of all States today regarding truck movement across the country. He referred to reports that trucks are not being allowed to move freely across Inter-State borders since local authorities are insisting for separate passes. Referring to past MHA Orders issued on 3rd and 14th April, it was again pointed out that no separate passes are required for through traffic of trucks and goods carriers, including empty trucks. As per the MHA, it has been clearly stated that a valid driving license is the only document that qualifies as a truck pass.
All States/UTs have been instructed to ensure that district authorities and field agencies are informed of the instructions unambiguously, so that movement of trucks and goods carriers continues unhindered. The repetitive directives from the Central Government definitely reflect positive intent on the part of the authorities to get India’s trucks moving smoothly.
